Moscow Conference on "The Mythological Unconscious"
The theme of the Fifth Annual Conference of the Moscow Association for Analytical Psychology, June 10-12, 2011, was "The Mythological Unconscious." Michael Vannoy Adams, author of The Mythological Unconscious, was the keynote speaker at the conference. Adams delivered three lectures that he wrote especially for the conference - "The Mythological Unconscious in Moscow: A Dream of a Russian-American Woman," "The Metaphor of Metamorphosis: Change in Myth and Psyche," and "O Baal, Hear Us: Active Imagination and the Mythological Unconscious."
Other speakers at the conference were Sylvester Wojtkowski, Henry Abramovitch, Elena Pourtova, Stanislav Raevsky, Lev Khegay, and Tatiana Rebeko. Approximately 125 participants attended the three-day conference. In addition to lectures, the conference included group supervisions, workshops, group discussions, and a party. The conference was held at the International University in Moscow, the first private university in Russia, established in 1991 by Mikhail Gorbachev and George H.W. Bush.
